Ah Yat ’91 Back on Mound
Paul Ah Yat ’91 was one of a dozen UH baseball alumni who showed up to play the current version of the Hawaii team on January 21.  Ah Yat, who pitched a scoreless inning and got a hit in the game, hopes more alumni will come out to play. (Honolulu Star-Bulletin – January 22, 20007)

Shinkawa ’00 Leads Kalani Turnaround
Two years ago, the Kalani High Girl’s Soccer program hadn’t been to the OIA playoffs since 2001.  Now, they are the OIA East Champs.  Leading the turnaround is Falcon Head Coach Ryan Shinkawa ’00, who in two years at the helm, has taken Kalani from also-ran to title contender.  (Honolulu Advertiser – January 23, 2007) 

Natalie (Leung) Rodrigues ‘93 Wins Teaching Award
Natalie Rodrigues ’93, a teacher at Mililani Waena Elementary School, has been awarded the National Milkens of Hawaii “Teacher of Promise” Award.  The award is given to educators who show excellence in teaching in their first four semesters of work.  (Honolulu Advertiser – January 19, 2007)

Alson Inaba ’79 Helps Get AEDs Into Airports
Dr. Alson Inaba ’79 is among a group of physicians who have campaigned to get Automatic External Defibrillators, or AEDs into Hawaii’s airports.  Last week, 60 of the lifesaving machines were installed at Honolulu International Airport, and more are on the way to the neighbor islands.  (Honolulu Star-Bulletin – January 24, 2007)

Mike Contee '04 Makes Move to Setter
Mike Contee ’04 is the best libero on Quincy University men’s volleyball team.  But this season, his team needs him to lead their offense, so Contee has been moved to setter.  Though more comfortable with the libero position, Contee accepts the decision as best for the team.  (Honolulu Star-Bulletin – January 26, 2007)

Kahoano Brothers Release Album
Ikaika ’96 and Kamuela ’98 Kahoano have released an album under the name Green Light Go.  The album, reviewed favorably by the Honolulu Advertiser’s Wayne Harada, features an eclectic mix of music.  (Honolulu Advertiser – January 26, 2007)
