Polo According to Bart

Polo Boys Hold off Kamehameha Rally

Take hard-fought 7-3 win

From Coach Bart:
(as reported by Al Linsky)

October 10, 2008

The varsity I team got back to its winning ways with a hard-fought 7 - 3 victory over Kamehameha.

The Warrior team is fast-improving, and they were up to the task last night with a strong, vocal crowd cheering them on.

Everything was rosy for the Iolaniites until the end of the third quarter when the Kamehameha goalie chucked in a last second prayer shot and, guess what, the Akua answered. Goal!

That closed the gap to 6 - 3, but more importantly gave the Warriors momentum going into the last period. After the Iolani defense withstood a frenzy to start the quarter, the game settled down and Iolani was able to squeeze out a 7 - 3 victory.

Leading the way and back in the scoring column were Rayfe Gaspar-Asaoka and Andy "Quick Exit" Atkinson.

Also balancing out the scoring were Vincente Lim and Chase "Grill Time" Weber."

'Iolani Varsity II Water Polo 8-2 Over Kam

October 10, 2008

According to Coach Randy Bart:

The varsity II continued their winning ways with a solid 8 - 2 win over Kamehameha.

Kellian Valenti anchored the stellar defense with one hand, two hand, and even no hand blocks (help from the goalie's best friend, the goal bar).

Throwing in three goals from improbable angles was Steven Wall. One of his goals was heaved from just in half-court and the goalie didn't even make a move on it because there was so much steam on the shot.
